Focal Point ^NEW^
Install the module as usual. Once enabled you will have a shiny new image field widget called "Image (Focal Point)". Using this widget will allow your content editors to set the focal point at the desired position on the image (see below).
Focal Point
Install the module as usual. Once enabled all standard image fields will allow users to set a focal point by default. The D7 version also supports media image fields if you are using the Media module ( >= 7.x-2.x).
To set the focal point on an image, go to the content edit form (ex. the node edit form) and upload an image. You will notice a crosshair in the middle of the newly uploaded image. Drag this crosshair to the most important part of your image. Alternatively you can click on the important part of your image if dragging seems too daunting.
Both effects will ensure that the user-defined focal point is as close to the center of your cropped image as possible. It guarantees the focal point will be not be cropped out of your image and that the image size will be the specified size.
Ideally, the rooms of your home have a built-in focal point. In that case, all you have to do is construct your design in such a way that highlights this existing feature. This also makes it much easier to decide how to layout the room. Some of the most common types of built-in focal points are:
Contrast is a good way to create focal points, because contrast calls attention to itself for being different. Anything that can be contrasted and anything that can affect visual weight or direction can be used to create a focal point, in the same way that it can be used to create a dominant element. The difference is simply of degree.
People who stick around longer than a few seconds should be able to scan through the focal points in your design to gain the next most important message(s) that you want to communicate, and so on with the rest of your information.
Visual hierarchy evolves out of gestalt. Focal points are one of the gestalt principles. Your dominant element is an extreme focal point. Both use contrast to stand out. The other side of the coin is similarity, which helps us to see things as the same. Similarity and contrast are necessary ingredients in hierarchy.
Today, 8 March 2021, the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or the "Court") joins the international community in marking International Women's Day and seizes the occasion to announce the appointment of a Focal Point for Gender Equality at the Court.
These parameters are dependent on the fit=crop and crop=focalpoint operations. When they're set, the focal point parameters allow you to intentionally art-direct a point of interest when cropping an image, with horizontal (fp-x), vertical (fp-y), and zoom (fp-z) values. As the image is then sized and cropped, the focal point determines which areas are centered and within bounds of the image, and what gets cropped out.
In a manner similar to the way sharpness, focus, and depth of field function in an image, shifting levels of color, lighting, and contrast can also affect how a focal point is perceived and interpreted.
An R2P Focal Point is a senior official within a government who facilitates national mechanisms for atrocity prevention and promotes international cooperation by participating in the Global Network. Appointment of an R2P Focal Point is a step that can be implemented by governments to demonstrate their commitment to mass atrocity prevention, regardless of their capacity.
Membership in the Global Network has expanded to include more than 60 senior-level representatives from countries in all regions of the world. The European Union and Organization of American States have also appointed an R2P Focal Point.
The Manual for R2P Focal Points was written by the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect as a tool that offers practical guidance to R2P Focal Points. The Manual provides an overview of the Responsibility to Protect and outlines tasks that R2P Focal Points should undertake from the time of their appointment until they leave their position. It details activities and initiatives for R2P Focal Points regarding how to operationalize atrocity prevention within their departments and governments. While the information in the Manual is not exhaustive, we hope it will inspire R2P Focal Points to explore how other thematic issues relate to their work.
Meetings of the Global Network have been held in New York, USA (2011, 2012), Accra, Ghana (2013), Gaborone, Botswana (2014) Madrid, Spain (2015), Seoul, Republic of Korea (2016), Doha, Qatar (2017), Helsinki, Finland (2018) and at the European Union in Brussels, Belgium (2019). In addition to these meetings, during 2012 the Global Centre, in collaboration with the Stanley Foundation, convened UN member states, UN officials and mass atrocity specialists for a preparatory workshop in February 2012 to establish recommendations for states on how to appoint an R2P Focal Point. During these annual meetings R2P Focal Points discuss their role within their governments as well as substantive ways to prevent mass atrocity crimes and protect vulnerable populations. The annual meeting is an opportunity to share best practices and strengthen ties between members.
Keep in mind that a focal point does not have to be a wall or part of a wall. Bold carpets or floors, hanging lights and even furniture pieces can also be strong visual features that capture our focus. Here, the beautiful carpet grounding this seating area, along with the dark, chunky coffee table and the chandelier, create a focal point in the center of the space, drawing the eye into the room rather than only to the walls.
This idea of embracing multiple focal points can apply to any room, but it is especially true for rooms that are a little larger, with multiple functional areas. This luxurious bedroom has a spectacular headboard, but it also has interest in other places, such as the sofa wall with its dreamy windows, or the inviting fireplace.
Focal points can also be determined by function in a room. If a small room has one sole function (such as watching TV or sleeping), it can have just one focal point. But when a room has multiple uses, it makes sense to give a focal point to each.
Here, the window is a major focal point when chatting or reading in the daytime, but the piano becomes more of a focus during, say, an evening singalong. Ultimately, the dark, glossy piano is hard to avoid as a dominant focal point, so the designer embraced that with equally vibrant yellow curtains.
When an image is uploaded to the Commerce site builder Media Library, the system attempts to determine the focal point of the image. For example, if the image has a person on it, the system will set the focal point to the face of the person by default. In most cases the automatically set focal point works well for all viewports, but sometimes you may want to adjust the focal point to ensure that a specific part of the image is always visible.
UN Women holds regular meetings with the network of focal points; provides guidance and updates on General Assembly mandates, organizational policies and emerging issues; and facilitates networking opportunities.
Focal length, usually represented in millimeters (mm), is the basic description of a photographic lens. It is not a measurement of the actual length of a lens, but a calculation of an optical distance from the point where light rays converge to form a sharp image of an object to the digital sensor or 35mm film at the focal plane in the camera. The focal length of a lens is determined when the lens is focused at infinity.
The main advantages of prime lenses or fixed focal length lenses are their size and weight as well as their maximum aperture or f/stop. Prime lenses tend to be more compact and lightweight than zoom lenses. 041b061a72
