Service Description

Ear seeds are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that dates back thousands of years. The earliest traces are found in the 4thcentury BC when Hippocrates attempted to cure impotence by bloodletting at the ear. Hippocrates of Kos was a Greek physician who was known as the ‘father of medicine’, after he taught that all forms of illness had a natural cause. Ear seeds are small seeds that are used to stimulate pressure points in the ear. They are a type of auriculotherapy, which refers to acupressure or acupuncture focused on the ear, and is an effective method of treating acute and chronic diseases without any side effects. The ear is a micro-imitation of the whole body, comparing the shape to an inverted foetus, and modern clinical research provides strong evidence regarding its effect on neural pathways. It is derived from Traditional Chinese medicine, in which they believe that health depends on the flow of Qi (energy) in the body. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this energy travels along invisible pathways known as meridians which are found throughout the body including the ears. By placing the ear seeds on certain points along these meridian lines, it is thought to clear up any Qi blockages which will help with a variety of health conditions. Not only does auriculotherapy unblock the energy meridians, but it also stimulates the nerve connections between the ear and the central nervous system. The pressure applied to a particular point will trigger a nerve impulse from the ear to the brain, which in turn sends healing messages to the organ or system in which the health problem is located. When stimulated, the brain releases pain-relieving protein molecules called endorphins into the blood stream and therefore quickly calms chronic pain and discomfort. Benefits include: treats addiction regulates hormones lowers hypertension relieves constipation manages internal disease eases insomnia decreases anxiety, stress and depression treats pain promotes general well-being aids in smoking cessation improves blood circulation enables relaxation reduces allergic reaction helps with weight loss treats migraines
